Rwandan lots from the shores of Lake Kivu are grown on volcanic soil above 1,700 metres, and it shows in the cup. This one is all dark berries: juicy blackcurrant up front, the tart floral note of hibiscus, and a clean, tea-like finish. The body is light, the acidity bright and sweet, like a berry infusion.

A single origin from one washing station

Single origin means every bean in the bag comes from the same place, here a single washing station where several hundred smallholders deliver their cherries. Nothing is blended in, so the character of Nyamasheke stays intact. The lot is fully washed and dried on raised beds, which gives the clarity that fruity filter drinkers look for.

How to brew this fruity light roast as filter

Use a paper filter to keep the cup clean. In a ceramic V60 dripper, brew 15 g for 250 g of water at 95 °C, with a 40-second bloom and a total time near 3 minutes. Light roasts need hot water and a medium-fine grind; a gooseneck kettle makes the slow pour easy. See the brewing guide for the complete pour-over recipe.
